Sociology Students in the Erasmus BIP Program at the University of Łódź

Sociology students Antonio Treppo, Ante Glasnović, and Nika Pavić participated in the Erasmus BIP program at the University of Łódź titled Future Politics in International Context. The virtual component of the program was held from March 17 to 23, 2025. As part of the virtual component, Assistant Professor Miriam Mary Brgles, Ph.D., from the University Department of Sociology, gave a lecture on March 20 titled “Towards an Integral Lifestyle of Homo Curalis: Rethinking Lifestyle as a Relational Good.” The second part of the program took place in person from May 5 to 9, 2025, at the University of Łódź, where our students met with peers from other European countries and spent the week in a dynamic academic atmosphere.

Student Antonio Treppo shared his experience of participating in the program: “The Erasmus+ BIP program in the city of Łódź, Poland, was an excellent experience for young sociologists interested in topics such as diplomacy and international relations. The week was filled with various activities and lectures on multiculturalism, diversity of societies, diplomatic communication with people from other cultures and countries, the current political situation, and sustainable policies. We worked on each topic in working groups, read articles, and participated in discussions where we had the opportunity to take on the role of policymakers. In addition to the official part of the program, informal gatherings were also very important to us. Through these gatherings, we formed new friendships with people of similar interests, which could be valuable in the future, especially if any of us decide to pursue careers in diplomacy or international relations.”

The Erasmus BIP program was co-organized by the University Department of Sociology, with the main organizer being Professor Agnieszka Kisztelińska-Węgrzyńska, Vice-Dean for Research and International Cooperation at the Faculty of International and Political Studies of the University of Łódź, who recently visited our University and with whom further strengthening of international cooperation was agreed upon.
